Daredevil Jeb Corliss breaks legs in Table Mountain jump
American wingsuit stuntman Jeb Corliss has been airlifted to hospital after an accident at South Africa's Table Mountain.
Police have confirmed that a man injured in a failed jump off Cape Town's Table Mountain on Monday was 35-year-old Jeb Corliss.
Table Mountain National Park spokeswoman Merle Collins told the Cape Times newspaper that Corliss didn't have permission for Monday's attempt and could face charges.
Corliss, who has claimed successful wingsuit jumps off the Eiffel Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge, was convicted of reckless endangerment in 2006 after he tried to jump from the Empire State Building.
The sport is known as BASE jumping, which stands for the locations from which jumps can be made: buildings, antennae, spans (such as bridges), and earth formations (such mountains).
